My first poke was with a butterfly needle on my hubby tonight. He was such a great sport. He said my technique was a little rusty, but my only other practice was previously on a dummy arm.
Wish Wisconsin wasn't about 8 states away. I'm a great IV teacher and don't mind getting stuck in the interest of teaching newer nurses. Are you still working in a hospital? Many nurses are willing to offer up their veins to help. I don't think I'd put anyone on the spot, but you could ask when with a few nurses, "Anyone willing to help a struggling student improve her IV technique. I'll get coffee next time!" I bet you'll find many willing volunteers.
hilarious! Actually, I have always found cathlons easier to insert than butterflies. :) So if you do this good with a butterfly, just think what you can do with a cathlon! :)
