Cardiology

My first clinical day in the hospital is tomorrow morning at 8am on the Cardiology floor.
I'm super excited, but I'm sick of listening and working on the CBT's tonight which I should have done this sooner, but didn't (CBT's stands for computer based training for those of you who don't know what that means).
I don't know if I ever mentioned this before but way back when I was going through my pre. req. classes I had a dream that I would be a cardiology nurse, but who pays much attention to dreams?  I can't say, in my awake state that I'm as interested in this specialty, but you never know what the future holds for me.

  1. That's pretty cool that you get to start clinicals on a tele floor. We were stuck in LTC for 4 months!

  2. I think a lot of new nurses have the cardiology dream. Cardiology has a almost a mystic or romantic quality about it, probably thanks to different reasons.

Having worked just about every unit in a hospital, including open heart and telemetry, after a while I noticed all nursing is important and cool. You will enjoy yourself wherever you end up on your first job.

  3. Ooooh! Exciting! What tasks will you be doing? Assessments and such? Baths? Meds?
The first 2 weeks we were on the floor (general med floor), all we did was baths and bed changes. The past 2 times we passed meds and I got to give a couple subQ shots and a blood sugar test. And my supervising nurse was a saint...she took the time to really teach me some things. I was thankful :-)
    Good luck tomorrow...have fun!!
